As of August 2020, around one third (34 percent) of public WhatsApp groups found in Brazil focused on friends and relationships. Around 17 percent of the groups aimed their attention at games, while 16 percent of them were work-related. It was estimated that by 2021, Brazil would be home to 148 million WhatsApp users.
