With the sanitary crisis provoked by the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, public gyms had to close in order to tackle the spread of the virus. Turning to a digital mode, the sports and fitness sector saw a great opportunity to keep people engaged with a catalogue of online courses. Thus, during the first lockdown in France, from March 17 to May 10, 2020, women were proportionally twice as likely to have followed online sports courses.
