A fantasy sport is a type of game, typically played online, where participants put together imaginary or virtual teams composed of proxies of real players of a professional sport. These teams compete based on the statistical performance of those players in actual games. Sometimes money can be wagered and won, depending on the success of the fantasy team. During a survey in May 2021, only six percent of U.S. respondents aged 65 and over stated that they played fantasy sports. Comparatively, over 70 percent respondents between the ages of 18 and 39 said that they participated in fantasy sports.
