The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic impacted the exhibition industry dramatically as travel bans and strict safety measures took place worldwide to reduce the spread of the virus. The B2B exhibition industry in the United States was also hit hard by the health crisis. According to an April 2020 survey, about 15 percent of surveyed executives of U.S. B2B exhibitions, who were forced to cancel events due to the pandemic, stated that their organizations delivered a full virtual trade show. When the same survey was repeated in June 2020, the share of full virtual trade show organizers rose to 41 percent.
