Value of exported goods from Norway 2012-2022

Norway exported goods worth around 26001 billion Norwegian kroner in 2022. That was the highest value of exports in the time under consideration and considerably more than in the previous year. The drop in exports in 2020 was arguably caused by the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19), which has affected the whole Norwegian economy.

Increase in imports

Similar to the value of exported goods, import figures peaked for Norway in 2022. That year, goods worth around 1027 billion Norwegian kroner made their way to the Scandinavian country. The value of imported goods increased almost every year since 2012. The trade balance in Norway had a continuous surplus over the past decade.

What does Norway export?

The biggest imported commodity group in Norway is machinery and transport equipment. In 2021, the country imported machinery and transport equipment worth roughly 328 billion Norwegian kroner. Regarding exports, mineral fuels and lubricants is the most exported commodity group. Norway exported goods such as oil and natural gas amounting to roughly 926 billion kroner that same year. Other imported export sources include food and live animals such as salmon.
