According to a survey conducted in Japan in September 2020, over 70 percent of respondents stated that renewable energy generation should be increased to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By contrast, only about six percent of respondents mentioned that the number of nuclear energy plants should be increased to lessen greenhouse gas emissions. The country aims to be entirely carbon-neutral by 2050.
