According to a survey conducted among Chinese wine consumers, Chinese wine drinkers spent on average 273 yuan on a 750ml bottle of wine when they enjoyed it at home. However, when it comes to business events or gifts, respondents spent on average 887 yuan on a bottle of wine.

Result of "own consumption at home" was based on answers from 1,308 respondents, result of "gathering with relatives and friends" was based on answers from 1,139 respondents, result of "business event and as gift" was based on answers from 958 respondents.
One yuan equals to 0.15 U.S. dollars and 0.13 euros (as of January 2021).
* The survey was conducted in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Xi'an among six groups of respondents. Two groups in each city. Group one aged 26 to 40 years, group two aged 41 to 55 years. At least two female respondents must be in each group.
Respondents from Guangzhou and Shanghai had a monthly household income of RMB15,000 or more, or monthly personal income of RMB8,000 or more.
Respondents from Xi'an had a monthly household income of RMB9,000 or more, or monthly personal income of RMB5,000 or more.
Respondents have bought and drunk wine or spirits costing RMB300 or more per bottle in the past month.
Respondents should have a habit of drinking wine and be decision makers in purchasing wine or spirits in the households.
At least two respondents in each group have drunk wine at least once every week in the past month.
At least two people in each group have participated in wine-related activities or received wine-related services in the past year.
