In 2020, the Polish government had plans to introduce a sugar tax. As of January 1st, 2021, the new tax officially came into effect. This action resulted in almost 70 percent of Poles perceiving the taxation of sweetened beverages substances other than sugar negatively. The main reason for that was the belief that this kind of tax was just a way of taking the people's money.
