Several violent extremist organizations are active in West Africa, causing battles, explosions, violence against civilians, and counter-terrorism actions. In this region, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Mali are the most impacted countries by extremist and terror events. Among the deadliest groups, there are Boko Haram, JNIM, ISIS in the Greater Sahara, and ISIS-West Africa. Boko Haram is based in Nigeria, a jihadist terrorist organization.
