Share of French parents knowing about their children's privacy on social media 2020
When the parents of French children between the ages of 8 and 17 were asked if they had knowledge about whether their children's social media accounts were private or public, the majority knew that their children's profile was set on private. For the older generation of children (15 to 17 years), about 30 percent of parents had no knowledge about the social media settings of their offspring. When children themselves were asked the same question, the majority of children aged 10 to 17 reported having a private account, only for their friends to see.
