In 2019, 325 people died in Nigeria in attacks caused by Fulani extremists. Compared to the previous year, when Fulani extremists were responsible for 1,158 deaths, this was a 72 percent decrease. According to the source, the Fulani extremists do not constitute a single terrorist group. In fact, certain deaths have been attributed to terrorist attacks used as a tactic in ongoing conflicts between pastoralists and the nomadic Fulani. Fulanis live in Nigeria, as well as in Guinea, Senegal, Mali, and Cameroon.
In 2019, 1,245 people died in Nigeria in terrorist attacks. In spite of the overall decrease in the number of deaths, Nigeria remains one of the countries with the highest terrorism threat levels in the world. Even though deaths due to terrorism experienced a decrease in 2019, Nigeria's deadliest terrorist group, Boko Haram, became more dangerous and the number of attacks on both civilian and military targets increased.
