In France, the number of children and adolescents with disabilities enrolled in specialized institutions fluctuated between 2004 and 2021. Indeed, in 2021, more than 71,000 students with disabilities were attending school in medico-social institutions, compared to slightly more than 70,000 fifteen years earlier. More than 8,500 young people were attending school in hospitals.
