A vast majority of Brazilian respondents surveyed in May 2020 said that they expected the national government to make environmental issues a priority while planning the post COVID-19 recovery. Still, more than 41 percent of the people interviewed admitted that protecting the environment was not a top priority for them at that moment. In Mexico, respondents were less likely than Brazilians to consider environmental topics a low priority issue in the context of the pandemic.
