Because of the COVID-19 induced lockdown, many young people were left feeling lonely in the comfort of their own homes, as dating has become somewhat difficult. Meeting new people has become a restraint for many and the use of dating apps gives online daters a wave of positive vibes, according to many. Thus, having fun, be charmed or feel happier were the most acclaimed reasons to date virtually. During the first wave of the lockdown, 30 percent of people aged 18 to 24 had met up for a sexual encounter with someone they had met on the Internet and that they did not know previous to the confinement.
