This resulted in drastic changes in the convention industry, as in-person meetings were often canceled or rescheduled. Despite this, according to a December 2020 survey, most convention travelers in the United States would prefer in-person meetings over hybrid events, which also rely on virtual solutions. Overall, if given a choice between these two formats, roughly 51.7 percent of respondents would prefer in-person meetings over hybrid ones.
