The German government has established a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination plan. This clarifies which citizens should get vaccinated first. The plan was developed due to certain population groups being at a higher risk of infection, such as the elderly or frontline workers in the health system. Indicators for earlier vaccination include age, profession (for example, those working in hospitals and care homes), medical reasons, and nursing home residents. Subsequent vaccine deliveries will need to be made in the coming months. Thus far, there were 899,052 first dose vaccinations recorded among people with medical indicators.
The vaccination rollout in Germany followed the approval of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine in the EU. The vaccine needs to be administered in two doses to be fully effective.

The collection of data about the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations is carried out by vaccination centers and mobile vaccination teams. Authorized vaccination center and mobile team personnel can import data in the “Digital vaccination rates monitoring” ("Digitales Impfquotenmonitoring") web application and transmit these daily to the Bundesdruckerei Group (Federal printing office) through a secure internet connection. There the data is stored on behalf of and retrieved daily by the Robert Koch Institut (RKI). It may occur that data from individual states is completed or corrected. In these cases tables are subsequently updated.
Multiple indicators are possible per vaccinated person. In some federal states not all the indicators listed in the table are identified individually.
