North Rhine-Westphalia had the most daily completed coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations recorded thus far among German states. The vaccination rollout in Germany started after the approval of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine in the EU. To be fully effective, the vaccine has to be injected in two doses, in two separate sessions. Since January 6, the Moderna vaccine is also allowed in Germany. Other vaccines have since been approved in the EU.
Number of new recorded coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations in Germany in 2021, by federal state
Vaccinations taking place in national vaccination centers with the national vaccine stock, in accordance with national laws about residents and the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination decree. Vaccinations are included in the total number of vaccinations in all of Germany.
Vaccination started: all first dose vaccinations with the BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.
Vaccination completed: All second dose vaccinations with the BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines, as well as with Janssen.
The collection of data about the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccinations is carried out by vaccination centers and mobile vaccination teams. Authorized vaccination center and mobile team personnel can import data in the “Digital vaccination rates monitoring” ("Digitales Impfquotenmonitoring") web application and transmit these daily to the Bundesdruckerei Group (Federal printing office) through a secure internet connection. There the data is stored on behalf of and retrieved daily by the Robert Koch Institut (RKI). It may occur that data from individual states is completed or corrected. In these cases tables are subsequently updated.
