While the use of teleworking is gradually becoming more widespread, the source was interested in assessing the proportion of employees frequently using teleworking in France in 2017, according to the size of their municipality of residence. In 2017, almost ten percent of employees residing in Paris regularly teleworked, and this was also the case for six percent of employees living in the Paris suburbs.

The source adds the following information: "An urban area (UA) is composed of an urban unit (set of municipalities ensuring a continuity of the built environment) and its area of influence in terms of employment (peri-urban ring). An urban unit is made up of city(ies)-centre(s) and their suburb(s). Here, the term "large urban area" refers to the 16 urban areas with more than 500,000 inhabitants, excluding the urban area of Paris."
