Businesses in Russia planned to invest in equipment, as well as staff training, rather consistently in the future as of 2020. Investment in other areas, such as employee healthcare, financial operations, and new business acquisition were expected to increase with time.

The respondents were asked the following questions: "Have you invested in the following areas? In which areas are you planning to invest in the next 1-2 years? In which areas are you planning to invest in the medium term (3-5 years)? In which areas are you planning to invest in the long term - during the next 10 years?"

* Small companies with a turnover of 121-800 million Russian rubles, medium companies with turnover 0.8-2 billion Russian rubles, large companies with turnover more than 2 billion Russian rubles.

** Interviews were conducted in two phases: from the beginning of September to beginning of October, and from the end of November to the end of December 2020.
