Biotechnology industry current expenses in Spain 2020, by nature of the expense
In 2020, the current expenses in the Spanish biotechnology sector amounted to over 1.89 billion euros. By nature of the expense, approximately 43 percent, or about 815 million euros, were assigned to the remuneration of researchers. Meanwhile, the wages of technicians and assistants represented around 346 million euros of the current expenses of the sector. That year, the total expenditure on R&D for biotechnology totaled about two billion euros in Spain.
