As of 2020, the majority of Russians expressed support towards the use of personal data by the government. Specifically, more than three quarters approved the implementation of facial recognition algorithms by law enforcement for security. Another two thirds of respondents were in favor of regional governments collecting data on contacts of citizens to avoid the spread of infectious diseases.
In your opinion, are the following ways of using personal data acceptable or unacceptable?
* Respondents represent the population of five regions: Republic of Buryatia, Nizhny Novgorod region, Tomsk region, Perm region, Moscow. At least 600 respondents were surveyed from each region. Russian citizens constitute 2,061 respondents.
