Biotechnology researchers in internal R&D in Spain 2009-2020
In 2020, the number of researchers conducting internal R&D activities in biotechnology in Spain amounted to approximately 19.4 thousand, up from around 19.1 thousand professionals registered a year prior. The number of biotechnology researchers performing internal R&D activities within this sector showed an upward trend over the analyzed period, ranging from about 13.9 thousand in 2009 to more than 19 thousand as of the last featured year. In Spain, internal expenditure on research and development for biotechnology activities reached over two billion euros in 2020.
