Biotechnology researchers in internal R&D in Spain 2009-2022

In 2022, the number of researchers conducting internal R&D activities in biotechnology in Spain amounted to approximately 22,000, up from almost 21,000 professionals registered a year prior. The number of biotechnology researchers performing internal R&D activities within this sector showed an upward trend over the analyzed period, ranging from about 13,900 in 2009 to more than 22,000 as of the last featured year. In Spain, internal expenditure on research and development for biotechnology activities reached over 2.5 billion euros in 2022.
