Impact of COVID-19 on projected real GDP growth in Botswana 2019-2022
According to estimations conducted in December 2020, the real GDP growth in Botswana was envisioned to contract by 8.9 percent in 2020. This is in line with the majority of the economies on the African continent due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Nevertheless, the economy is anticipated to pick up quickly in 2021, with the real GDP growing by 7.5 percent. This is projected to continue in 2022, however at a slower rate, rising by 5.5 percent.
