When asked what their budget looked like for the coming two weeks at the end of June 2020, just under 15 percent of consumers in Belgium expected to spend more on groceries than usual. Overall, it was the only category predicted to see an increase in average spending during this period. When it came to restaurants, for example, nearly 40 percent of Belgians were expecting to spend less than normal.
