Number of digital devices in households in Hungary 2020, by type

In 2020, smartphones were the most widely used digital devices in Hungary, as their average number per household totaled 2.4. Furthermore, the average number of smart home appliances in each household was registered at 1.7.

 Smartphone usage

In 2020, smartphone penetration rate reached 75 percent in the country. Moreover, 67 percent of the population had a small screen mobile internet subscription, making smartphones undoubtedly one of the most used digital devices. According to the findings of a survey conducted in 2019, the most common online activities of Hungarian smartphone users included making calls and sending messages via chat programs, as well as using social networks.

 Smart home appliances

The smart home appliances market generated 40 million dollars’ worth of revenue in Hungary in 2020, and this figure is expected to reach 136 million dollars by 2025. Based on the findings of a survey realized in 2019, smart TVs were the most popular type of smart home appliance in the country, followed by security systems and cameras.
