In 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic dramatically hit the tourism industry, as countries had to restrict travel to limit the spread of the virus. The COVID-19 emergency had a significant impact on the operations of the leisure travel company TUI AG. In 2020, the number of employees in the cruises segment dropped by 81.3 over the previous year. Moreover, employment at TUI Musement, formerly known as Destination Experiences, dropped by 50.8 percent overall.
