As of August 1, 2020, close to 4.5 million children and teenagers had been affected by school closures in Ecuador in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Close to 3.8 million of the students were enrolled in primary and secondary schools at the time, while more than 638 thousand were enrolled in pre-primary schools. The national closure of schools in the country was implemented on March 16, 2020.
