In 2022, the number of stroke cases registered in Spain mounted to close to 595,000, the highest value reported during the analyzed period. Compared to the previous year, stroke cases grew by around three percent in the European country. A stroke is a cerebrovascular condition in which the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or when a brain artery breaks. As of 2021, approximately 24,800 people died from cerebrovascular diseases in Spain.
