In the academic year 2022, around 105,000 pupils at primary schools and 194,000 students at lower secondary schools were absent for more than 30 days. Both numbers indicated a 10-year consecutive increase since the academic year 2013. Long-term absence in this case refers to the absence of students who refuse or are unable to attend school due to psychological, emotional, physical, or social reasons, excluding those who are ill or have financial reasons.
