Facebook fines and penalties in 2019
In July 2019, Facebook was subjected to fines of over five billion U.S. dollars, after an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) revealed a number of privacy violations resulting in by far the largest fine the FTC had ever imposed. This was not the only fine Facebook was issued in 2019, with the social media giant facing a range of allegations and financial penalties throughout the year, including a 47 dollar fine issued by a court in Russia.
