Largest fines in privacy enforcement actions 2019

As of 2019, Facebook recorded the largest penalty ever imposed on a company for the violation of consumers' privacy, amounting to five billion U.S. dollars. This was also one of the largest penalties ever assessed by the U.S. government for any violation. The second highest penalty for violating consumer privacy, as of 2019, was the 275 million U.S. dollar fine issued to Equifax.
