The eSports industry has experienced a significant boom in recent years, no doubt helped by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 which forced the cancelation of many sporting events and traditional sports leagues. eSports are increasingly being seen as a legitimate professional sport, causing the sports industry to take notice and engage with the emerging market. During an August 2020 survey among sports industry leaders worldwide, some 61 percent confirmed that their organization had already engaged with the eSports industry.
