Manufacturing activities in Dominican free trade zones (FTZ) contributed nearly 66 billion Dominican pesos to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of 2020. This corresponds to around 45 percent of the figure registered a year earlier. Exports through FTZ in the Dominican Republic amounted to approximately seven billion U.S. dollars in 2019.
