In 2017, the import volume of aluminum into Sub-Saharan Africa corresponded to 184 million metric tons. Of these, the great majority was constituted by hollow profiles of aluminum alloys (107 million metric tons). Since 2008, bars, rods, profiles, and hollow profiles of aluminum alloys have been the leading aluminum forms imported into Sub-Saharan Africa, and their import volume increased annually within the period examined. On the contrary, not alloyed aluminum imports declined from 2012 onwards.
