In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing demand for epidemiological safety, food delivery was named the most promising segment in foodtech by 60 percent of survey respondents. In the long term, given the constant decline in natural resources and the population growth, popular demand was projected for biotechnology in foodtech. Smart agriculture (agrotech) and vertical farms were mentioned by 23 and 11 percent of industry experts, respectively.
