In 2020, nearly half of consumers in France primarily shopped locally in order to reduce their environmental impact. On the other hand, only about one in ten shoppers in both the United States and Japan bought products locally for this reason. That year, many consumers across the globe bought locally in order to support local job creation, as well as the local economy.
