As surveyed in August 2020, FDI firms had the highest return on equity (ROE) among all kinds of ownership in Vietnam in 2020. On the other hand, state-owned companies' ROE increased by six percent compared to the figure from 2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Both FDI and private enterprises experienced a decrease in their ROE from 2019 to 2020. ROE is a financial performance indicator, measuring the profitability of an enterprise regarding its equity.
