South Africa, the most affected country in the continent, recorded 91.9 percent of the total deaths in the sub-region, adding up to 99,543 casualties. Furthermore, Namibia and Botswana recorded 4,013 and 2,619 deaths, respectively, while Eswatini and Lesotho registered 1,391 and 697 casualties each.
As of March 06, 2022, the cumulative number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in the southernmost region of Africa amounted to 108,263.
