In Mexico, distance learning became the norm during the lockdown imposed in face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, proper communication between teachers, parents, and students is one of the key factors for distance learning to be successful. According to an online survey carried out in the country in June 2020, the channel most used for communication between school staff and students - as reported by interviewed parents - was instant messaging, used by 84.5 percent of respondents.
