In the first quarter of 2019, 88 percent of traditional office landlords agreed that, from an underwriting perspective, buildings with a coworking component are valued differently from buildings with a wholly traditional leased office. Numbers are similar for other senior executives in the sector, such as coworking operators (75 percent agreed). Underwriting involves an assessment of the degree of risk an individual or institution is taking before that risk is taken on. This risk commonly is a loan, insurance, or investment.

Survey respondents consist of 100 senior executives (coworking operators, equity investors who fund coworking operators and/or coworking funds, traditional landlords, lenders and brokers). 75 respondents were based in the United States, with the rest based in the United Kingdom and Europe.
