Maca, also known as Peruvian ginseng, is a vegetable that became famous for its high nutritional values. The plant is native to the Andes mountains in the South American country after which it is named. In 2020, the United States was the leading country of destination for maca exports from Peru, amounting to around seven million U.S. dollars, around 40 percent of Peru's maca exports that year. Brazil ranked second, with 1.93 million dollars worth of maca exports.
