As of the third quarter of 2023, South Africa was the leading country in Africa in the adoption of mobile payment methods. In this country, around 20 percent of internet users made mobile payments on a monthly basis. Kenya, Morocco, and Egypt followed, with 17.7 percent, 11.1 percent, and 10.7 percent of internet users, respectively. In that year, the global average stood at 23.7 percent.
