Full-time jobs lost due to the coronavirus pandemic in Northern Africa Q1-Q3 2020
In Northern Africa, 22 million jobs were estimated as lost as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from the first to the third quarter of 2020. Moreover, the first quarter of the year was the least affected period with an approximation of one million job losses, while the second quarter faced more pressure with 13 million full time jobs evaluated as lost. Furthermore, eight million losses were registered in the country during the third quarter of 2020. Overall, this situation can be attributed to measures taken by regimes to curb the coronavirus pandemic and its economic effects.
