Natural gas and oil were the most common sources of heating in German households as of 2022. Roughly 51 percent of homes in Germany were supplied with heat through natural gas, whilst 20 percent of homes were heated with oil that year. Heating oil prices in Germany totaled 734 euros per 1,000 liters in 2021.
