Global mobile internet connectivity 2014-2020

The general trend shows a stable growth of people accessing mobile internet services. In 2020, four billion people worldwide were connected. However, even if the coverage gap** is closing in, the usage gap* is growing. Since 2014 the coverage gap has decreased by 75 percent from 1.8 billion to 0.45 billion people, while the usage gap has increased by 8 percent from 3.15 billion to 3.40 billion people.
