In the fiscal year 2022, the average traffic volume of toll fee chargeable expressways in Japan operated by East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO East) amounted to around 2.91 million vehicles per day, increasing from roughly 2.74 million vehicles in the previous year. Japan's expressway companies are the successors of former public corporations operating the country's vital highway routes.
