The number of people that arrived in Spain illegally by land through the northern African city of Ceuta decreased over the period of time under consideration, peaking in 2016 at almost 2,100. The number of irregular migrants that arrived in Spain by land through this city was estimated to be approximately 1,068 in 2022.

*This figure does not include arrivals that took place on May 17 and 18 of 2021, when it is estimated that thousands of migrants crossed the border to Ceuta due to a diplomatic incident between Spain and Morocco, which led the later to relax its border control in retaliation.
