During week 15 (March 30 to April 5) of 2020, unit sales of printed books contracted by 79.2 percent, compared with the same week in 2019. Due to the spread of the coronavirus, Mexico ordered closure of non-essential economic activity (including bookstores) in week 13, and permitted reopening in week 27.
