During late March and first weeks of April 2020, footfall in inner-city shopping malls in the Netherlands was over 70 percent lower, compared to the number of visitors 12 months earlier. Due to the various restrictions and measures the country has taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the number of consumers visiting Dutch shopping centers has declined sharply over the last year.
