As a result of 2020's coronavirus pandemic, approximately one in five non-food small to medium-sized retailers (with multiple outlets) in the Netherlands expects to close at least one store. In contrast, less than five percent of retailers with just one outlet are expecting to close down. Between 20 and 30 percent of the country's surveyed small to medium-sized retailers were unsure about the future of their shop or shops.
